Our work

We are a small, Canadian, grassroots organization working to support and empower children with disabilities (and their families) in the global south (“developing countries”). Founded in 2001, we have been working primarily in Peru for the last 17 years.

You can learn more about the needs and why we do what we do here.

Our work focuses on the following interconnected areas: the provision of assistive technologyAugmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) serviceseducation and awarenesshuman rights promotion; and support services.

Each year we provide specialized custom-fitted wheelchairs (as well as other devices) to over 50 children in need from the southern regions of Peru. We also hold over a dozen workshops for families, professionals and community members, in an effort to provide crucial information to those who need it, and to build connections between individuals and organizations. In addition, we provide ongoing support and assistance to dozens of families and organizations working with children with disabilities throughout southern Peru.

(We are currently redeveloping this website. Please check back soon for much more information about our work with children with disabilities in Peru. In the meantime, check out our Facebook page for recent photos and updates about our work. Thank-you for your patience!)

Equip KIDS’ Fiesta 2017

Thank-you to all those who joined us on November 25th, 2017 for Fiesta 2017! It was a wonderful night of salsa lessons and dancing, traditional Peruvian song and dance presentations, food and drinks (including some Peruvian fare to try!), an auction and more! In this inaugural event we raised over $3000 to support our work with children with disabilities and their families in Peru!

More information and photos of the event are available through our Facebook event page.

And of course, our sincerest thanks to our sponsors. Thanks to their generosity and support, we’re able to create a fun event in which 100% of all proceeds go directly to helping children with disabilities in Peru. MUCHAS GRACIAS to:
